Inspired Author

Stepping into the literary world with a heart deeply rooted in her heritage, Kerry Ann Winmar, a Whadjuk Yorga from the Perth region, has become a shining star on the indigenous literary scene.

Following in her father's footsteps Munyari Winmar, author of the popular Nyungar book "Walwaling: The Hill that Cries", Kerry Ann's own book the "Moodjar Yok: Christmas Tree Woman," connects with the spirit of Nyungar care, embracing themes of kinship and family ties. Winmar's bilingual storytelling, intricately blending Nyungar Wadjak and English, offers fascinating insights into an ancient culture through the universal language of compassion.

Her passion for her art and dedication to cultural preservation have not only established her as a published author but also earned her the esteemed 2020 Business of the Year award, cementing her role as a powerful voice in sharing Nyungar tales with her community and the world.
